Overview
The ideal candidate for the Account Supervisor role at VML (VW brand team) will be confident, organized and proactive in managing day-to-day client relationships and executing integrated marketing campaigns. This role balances strategic thinking, client leadership, discipline to implement process and an eager approach to problem solve independently. The role requires attention to detail, will approach situations with a collaborative positive mindset and the ability to consistently delivery against client objectives.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and coach Account Manager
- Review and approve day-to-day client communications, timelines, and deliverables prepared by junior team members.
- Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for overall project success.
- Lead internal status meetings and ensure teams are aligned on priorities, deadlines, and next steps.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and solutions-oriented team culture.
Day-to-Day Account & Project Management
- Manage the daily workflow across multiple automotive projects and campaigns, including product launches, manage partnerships, oversee digital, social, and traditional advertising initiatives.
- Develop and maintain detailed project timelines, scopes, and status documents.
- Track deliverables, approvals, and dependencies to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
- Review creative briefs, ensure accuracy and clarity, and confirm they align with client objectives and brand standards.
- Oversee internal and external review cycles, managing client feedback and ensuring revisions are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Flag risks, scope changes, or timing challenges early and work with the Account Director to recommend solutions.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact, building strong, trusted relationships.
- Lead routine client check-ins, status calls, and working sessions.
- Manage client expectations by clearly communicating timelines, deliverables, and next steps.
- Act as a point of escalation for project issues, creative feedback, or production challenges.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, optimize campaigns, or expand the scope of work.
- Monitor overall client satisfaction and address concerns before they escalate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Creative, Strategy, Media, Production, Studio, and Digital teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Facilitate internal kickoffs and ensure all departments are aligned on project goals, roles, and deliverables.
- Translate client objectives into clear internal direction and actionable next steps.
- Ensure all work adheres to automotive brand guidelines, legal requirements, and approval processes.
Reporting, Documentation & Financial Awareness
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly status reports, timelines, and recap documents.
- Support the Account Director with budget tracking, estimates, and scope management.
- Ensure all client-facing documentation is accurate, on-brand, and professionally presented.
Meetings & Presentations
- Participate in and lead client meetings, presentations, and reviews as appropriate.
- Present campaign updates, timelines, and recommendations with confidence and clarity.
- Capture meeting notes, action items, and next steps, and ensure timely follow-up.
Who We're Looking For
- 4-5+ years of experience in account management, client service, or a related role, preferably within an advertising or marketing agency.
- Experience managing integrated campaigns across multiple channels.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
- Strong understanding of creative, production, and approval workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with social media and digital platforms is a plus.
- Automotive industry or automotive marketing experience is a strong plus.
The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range between the values at the bottom of this posting. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
$65,000-$115,000 CAD
