Facility Engineering Specialist

Job Overview:
 

• Take ownership of building and testing equipment electrical and mechanical systems including building power distribution, controls, HVAC, cooling, compressed air systems, fire suppression etc.
• Investigate and resolve deficiencies.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety, applicable codes, regulations and standards.
• Work with internal customers to provide solutions to equipment and building upgrades.
• Develop scope of work for construction projects, equipment installation projects and maintenance contracts. Support the bid process.
• Develop and manage maintenance programs
• Manage facility projects to meet timing, specifications and cost objectives.
• Oversee services supporting building and equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
• Write purchase requisitions for material and services. Track requisition, Purchase Orders and Invoicing.
• Develop and promote improvements to reduce costs.
• Ensure owner's interests are protected with respect to health and safety, cost, schedule, liability and function on work assignments
• Primary area of responsibility is within company's facilities located in Windsor.
• Direct/supervise skilled trades on assignments as required
• Willingness to accept a variety of assignments including those that fall outside of engineering

Qualifications:
 

• Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years engineering, maintenance or operating experience with power distribution, controls, HVAC, cooling, compressed air systems, fire suppression
• Detailed knowledge of facility electrical and mechanical systems such as electrical power distribution systems, controls, HVAC, utilities, air compressors, cooling towers and bridge cranes.
• Detailed knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, TSSA standards, OHSA, CSA and local by-laws.
• Ability to interpret and develop electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Strong project management skills, organizational skills, teamwork, written and verbal communication.
• Driving Required
• Ability to travel to the United States
