Job description
This position is responsible for overseeing the entire repair process, including initial vehicle dismantling, parts ordering, dent removal and painting operations, through to quality control and delivery. Key responsibilities include optimizing workshop capacity, planning technician workflows, ensuring strict compliance with repair standards and safety protocols, and facilitating smooth and continuous communication between customer service, estimates, and the technical team. Ultimately, the production supervisor plays a crucial role in the optimization and profitability of the workshop.
Key responsibilities:
• Plan, direct, and control workflow within the collision center to ensure repairs are completed on time while maximizing shop efficiency.
• Reduce vehicle returns by ensuring best practices are followed in the shop.
• Monitor individual technician performance and establish action plans to improve performance when necessary.
• Conduct regular meetings with all workshop members;
• Provide constructive coaching, feedback, and communicate departmental goals and expectations;
• Support and collaborate with the customer service team to prioritize production files;
• Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors;
• Manage vehicle movement within departments and ensure that all customer vehicles are organized and in the correct location in the collision center, and that they are tracked using the management system;
• Ensure that body technicians and paint technicians repair vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications in order to maintain certifications;
• Supervise and support the development of technicians within the collision center;
• Provide leadership and support to ensure that the team successfully achieves its goals and objectives;
• Ensure that tools and equipment, including the facility, are properly maintained and serviced;
• Demonstrate and uphold a healthy and safe work environment.
Requirements:
• Experience as a manager or team leader in bodywork, production, or estimation;
• Excellent understanding of the operational practices of a collision center;
• Detailed understanding of the fixed operations of an automotive dealership;
• Ability to be and act professionally and provide exceptional customer service;
• Excellent people management skills: leadership, employee engagement, team development, interpersonal relations, coaching, mentoring, and supervision;
• Strong sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, perform a variety of tasks, and meet required deadlines and objectives;
• Sense of integrity and ability to achieve goals honestly;
• Attention to detail, self-motivated, and resourceful;
• Understanding of CNESST requirements for automotive workshops;
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
