Paint Operator - Afternoon Shift

A.Duties & Responsibilities 

 

1. Perform all duties as listed on the Operator instructions, as well as perform all functions within their respective work cell.
2. Relieve operators within cell for breaks and lunches when required by supervisor, cell leader.
3. Monitor quality through the use of Operator instructions and limit samples.
4. Ensure that all documentation required is accurate and complete including Lot Numbers and Viscosity when mixing paint.
5. Ensure paint usage is calculated at the end of each shift.
6. Complete first and last off samples
7. Promote the efficiency improvement while maintaining the quality levels expected.
8. Foster and promote continuous improvement efforts and ensure communication and follow up to the next management level.
9. Ensure that prior to the arrival of the cell team an inspection of the cell is made and that the previous paint operator has addressed the discrepancies found.
10. Facilitate open and honest communication network including Supervisors and cell team, as well as other employees.
11. Ensure the safety of all cell members. Report unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor and insist on full compliance to safety in the workplace.
12. Promote pride of workmanship, urgency, consistency, punctuality and a positive team approach through leadership by example.
13. Take aggressive measures towards housekeeping. Promote working tidy and organized without creating additional clean up that would adversely affect efficiencies.
14. At the completion of the shift, ensure that the paint area is ready for immediate occupancy by the next paint operator and full productivity can begin without reduction in efficiency or quality.
15. Monitor paint inventory levels and advise Supervisor of low quantities.
16. Ensure that disposition of all items and product within the cell is addressed. Example, materials on hold and scrap parts, etc.
17. Continually verify that all items in the cell are required for the current running program. Remove all other materials from previous jobs and return them to their proper storage locations.
18. Prior to a program change, specific duties and responsibilities should be communicated to each member of the cell team to ensure the smooth transition of programs occurs.

B.Minimum Qualifications 

 

1. Grade 12 education.

C.Required Skills 

 

1. English, Reading and Writing.
2. Problem solving abilities.
3. Strong motivational and leadership skills.
4. Pass colour evaluation tests for appearance item inspection.
5. Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.
6. Forms, Tags and Labels governing job function
