                                                                THE POSITION:
Passionate about luxury cars and personalized service, our client, Motorcarlease, is a leader in customized vehicle financing and leasing solutions. Serving clients in Montreal and beyond, they specialize in offering a carefully curated selection of high-end vehicles, ranging from luxury cars to rare and collectible models, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable leasing experience.
Our client is seeking an operational financial leader to manage and oversee the company's financial and accounting functions and support the owners. Reporting directly to the owners, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and compliance within the company. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance, with experience in the automotive industry. In addition, the CFO will have previous experience leading and managing a team.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The CFO will oversee and manage the company's day-to-day financial activities, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all accounting and financial functions. This operational role requires a meticulous and proactive professional capable of managing financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls, while having a good command of transactional accounting processes. The ideal candidate will also provide support to the owners in their growth projects.
Working closely with the owners, the CFO will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, optimize financial processes, and maintain rigorous financial controls. The ideal candidate is comfortable with day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and complying with regulatory and tax requirements, while supporting the overall financial health of the company. The CFO will also work collaboratively with other departments, providing them with regular reports and data as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all financial and accounting activities of the company.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for all group companies in a timely manner.
- Present financial results and recommendations to owners on a monthly basis.
- Ensure effective cash management, prepare monthly reports and financial plans.
- Manage credit facilities, including financial ratio assessments and quarterly bank audits.
- Create reports and tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) to keep owners informed of the situation.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts to identify and review variances each month.
- Prepare all year-end reports, manage the audit process, and oversee relationships with external auditors.
- Interact with key business partners (bankers, auditors, lawyers, and other third parties) to maintain and improve business relationships.
- Manage property and liability insurance policies.
- Advise on and implement best practices to increase revenue and reduce costs.
- Ensure that the company's financial regulations and processes comply with provincial and federal tax and financial laws.
- File monthly and annual government reports and ensure payment of all tax instalments.
- Review and monitor internal practices and controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, corporate policies, and best accounting practices.
- Actively lead, train, and mentor the accounting and finance team.
- Provide ongoing support to other department heads and functions in their day-to-day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in finance, accounting, or business management.
- CPA designation (an asset).
- Eight (8) years of experience in a senior financial and accounting role.
- Experience in the automotive industry is a definite asset.
- Experience in real estate is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with accounting systems, budgets, forecasting, internal controls, and cash management.
- Experience in team management and good management skills.
- Autonomy, versatility, and ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Good communication skills in French and English.
