Description
The Certified Mechanic inspects, and repairs damaged and malfunctioning vehicles, tractors, trailers, construction equipment by diagnosing, repairing or replacing damaged or defective parts. Other duties include administering preventative maintenance programs, ordering parts, keeping inventory, repair, and maintenance records. Equipment inspections are conducted in accordance with provincial and municipal requirements.
Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform routine preventative maintenance such as tune-ups, brakes, oil changes, etc.
2. Ensure mechanical equipment is repaired in an accurate manner consistent with safety regulations
3. Inspection of equipment for safety certification
4. Manufacturing and welding of equipment/repairs as required
5. Ordering of replacement parts and inventory
6. Coding of invoices for payment
7. Consulting technical manuals for model specific repairs
8. Maintain maintenance records and required inventory
9. Diagnose and complete cost benefit analysis of repairs
10. Road test vehicles and equipment
11. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• 310T Truck and Coach Technician
• Minimum of two (2) years previous related experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications Considered Assets
• 310S Automotive Technician
• Lift truck operator license
• Ozone depletion certificate
Working Conditions
• Duties shall be performed both indoors and outdoors
• Manual dexterity to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, grinders, welders, hoists, torches, desktop computer, peripherals, etc.
• Safety equipment as required (i.e. safety shoes, glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
• Travel within the Town
• Operation of various motor vehicles
Hours of Work
• Primary hours of work are Monday to Friday (40 hours), day shift with overtime as required
Physical Requirements
- Physical work environment requiring extended periods of walking, standing, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and sitting
