Job description
Want to contribute to more sustainable mobility while putting your field expertise and leadership skills to good use?
At Communauto, we've been transforming urban environments since 1994. As pioneers in car sharing, we believe that another model of mobility is possible—one that's smarter, more accessible, and more human.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about coordination, supplier management, and continuous improvement to lead a key sector at the national level: claims operations and damage tracking.
Your day-to-day role:
- Supervise and support a team of three people responsible for tracking claims, coordinating repairs, and approving estimates.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of processed files by providing technical and strategic support to the team.
- Analyze estimates submitted by body shops, evaluate them critically, and approve or reject bids based on technical and budgetary criteria (without performing field analysis).
- Maintain and develop a network of reliable suppliers (body shops, garages) across Canada, evaluating their performance and negotiating terms of service.
- Collaborate with internal departments (logistics, finance, customer service, material resources) to ensure smooth and compliant incident management.
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of processes by identifying opportunities for optimization, supporting their implementation, and training the team in new practices.
- Ensure budgetary monitoring of repairs and interventions by controlling costs, validating variances, and recommending necessary trade-offs.
What we are looking for:
- Significant experience of at least 5 years in team or project coordination.
- Comfortable in the auto body repair environment: including a good understanding of damage estimates and repair processes, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers on technical issues.
- Relevant training related to the automotive industry, damage management, coordination, or management (e.g., on-the-job training as an auto estimator, claims adjuster, technical advisor, technical consulting diploma, etc.).
- Expertise in supplier management: ability to maintain strong relationships, evaluate partner performance, and negotiate terms of service.
- Strong budget management skills: rigorous cost monitoring, validation of variances, ability to recommend trade-offs.
- Expertise in continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen, etc.) – a major asset
- Motivational leadership: ability to develop a team's skills, share best practices, and support autonomy.
- Professional level bilingualism (French and English) required, both spoken and written.
What we offer:
- Full-time position, 37.5 hours/week, with flexible hours.
- Hybrid environment: telework and office presence (5800 Saint-Denis Street in Montreal).
- Comprehensive benefits package: health, dental, vision, travel insurance
- Group pension plan with employer contribution
- Personal leave bank
- Discounts on Communauto services and public transportation passes
- Employee and family assistance program
- Access to telemedicine
Why choose Communauto?
This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a key sector, improve existing practices, and build strong relationships with suppliers across the country. It is a role that combines field expertise, coordination, and continuous improvement in a structured but evolving environment.
This position could be particularly suitable for someone from the automotive industry, such as a former technical advisor, who wants to move away from the shop floor, leave behind the pressure of sales or customer service, and put their expertise to good use in a role involving coordination, analysis, and interdepartmental collaboration.
The work environment is characterized by its human, collaborative, and caring culture. Solid support is provided from the moment you start, with concrete opportunities for advancement based on each individual's strengths and pace.
