About the role:
As a Fleet Dispatcher, you'll be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound highway drivers, ensuring shipments are delivered on time, and maintaining accurate communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams. You'll also play a key role in cross-border documentation, rate negotiation, and supporting overall fleet safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch inbound and outbound highway drivers verbally and electronically
- Support local dispatch operations as needed
- Prepare and submit ACE and ACI entries for transborder shipments and provide processed documents to drivers
- Perform accurate and timely order entry and truck status updates in internal and customer systems
- Assist with safety record maintenance (medical due dates, maintenance files, etc.)
- Provide road service support when issues arise on the route
- Collaborate effectively with co-workers and communicate professionally with drivers, brokers, and customers
- Negotiate rates with freight brokers to maximize revenue and support Owner/Operator pay processing as required
- Issue money codes when needed
Performance Expectations:
- Schedule drivers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery
- Optimize revenue through effective rate negotiation
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving to minimize disruptions and delays
- Contribute to achieving the target on-time service scores
- Maintain accurate data and consistent communication to support smooth operations
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in dispatching or fleet coordination (preferably in a 3PL or trucking environment)
- Knowledge of cross-border transportation and ACE/ACI processes
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency with dispatch and fleet management software
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills
- Familiarity with safety compliance and maintenance recordkeeping is an asset
