What You'll Do
As Manager, Fleet Services, you will:
- Oversee Cochrane's entire fleet including procurement, maintenance, repairs, lifecycle management, and disposal
- Ensure compliance with Federal National Safety Code (NSC) and Provincial Commercial Vehicle legislation
- Maintain accurate fleet inventory, databases, and reporting on costs, fuel, and maintenance
- Lead, coach, and support the Fleet Services team, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Prepare and manage annual capital and operating budgets while identifying efficiencies
- Coordinate inspections, maintenance, and repairs with internal staff and external vendors
- Keep all vehicles licensed, insured, safe, and road-ready
- Drive continuous improvement in fleet safety, technology, and sustainability practices
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Transportation, Logistics, Fleet Management, or Vehicle Maintenance (equivalencies considered)
- 5+ years of fleet management experience, ideally within a municipal setting
- 5+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized workplace
- Strong knowledge of fleet legislation, procurement practices, and maintenance standards
- Skilled in budgeting, reporting, and data analysis with a solid business mindset
- Proficiency with Fleet Information Management Systems (FIMS) and MS Office
- A collaborative leadership style with a knack for building strong teams and relationships
What Sets You Apart?
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (required); Class 3 with air brake endorsement in an asset
- Fleet Management Accreditation (APWA or NAFA)
- Safety or supervisory certifications (ACSA, NCSO, Public Works Supervisor)
- Training in Commercial Vehicle Safety
