What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Associate Director, Fleet Management, the Manager, Fleet Systems, is a leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability of our emergency generators, tanks, and fuel systems, providing continuity of operations and maintenance. This position oversees all aspects of vendor contracts, manages annual and five-year Fleet CAPEX plans, and keeps the Fleet Asset Management Plan up-to-date. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Manager, Fleet Services, to continuously develop cost-effective asset management and maintenance strategies, evaluate and implement new technologies to improve safety and performance, and oversee resources and communications to meet customer needs. Your duties will include asset management, lifecycle analysis, equipment specifications, optimizing fleet utilization, and managing the preventative maintenance and repair of our critical systems.

As Manager, Fleet Systems, you will:

 

  • Lead a well-managed contribution unit within budget and aligned to the Strategic Plan.
  • Promote employee participation, accountability, and job satisfaction.
  • Champion a culture of customer centricity and collaboration.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of a plan to ensure optimum lifecycle management, maintenance, and effective technical performance of all GTAA light fleet, generators, tanks, and fuel systems.
  • Optimize the fleet pool to support user business requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and collaborate with the Manager, Fleet Services, to meet objectives with the most efficient use of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
  • Evaluate continuous fleet and equipment rightsizing.
  • Update the Fleet Asset Management Plan and its contribution to the Corporate Asset Management Plan.
  • Evaluate technologies continuously to green the fleet, maximize utilization, and improve maintenance costs.
  • Develop an optimized maintenance program within RMAX to support a safe, compliant, and well-maintained fleet and equipment while continuously improving equipment efficiencies through various means.
  • Lead all aspects of the bulk fuel and waste oil storage tank preventative maintenance program to ensure compliance with federal environmental and fire code regulations.
  • Develop annual Fleet lifecycle capital plans based on user requirements and through analytical evaluations of existing fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, and lead contracts and vendors.
  • Lead people by providing coaching, guidance, and development through feedback for personal and career growth.
  • Act as a customer-centric leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Beliefs.


This is the role for you, if you have:

 

  • 5 years of experience in equipment, life cycle analysis, heavy and light fleet specifications, leading vendors, Microsoft suite of products, standby emergency generators and fuel systems.
  • 2 years of experience in People Management (direct report or cross-functional).
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams, including those in a unionized environment, as well as external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong business acumen and a continuous improvement mindset, using data to identify trends, create action plans, and ensure operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information to a broad audience, and you have knowledge of relevant regulations, fleet equipment, and standard computer software.
  • Valid "G" Ontario Drivers License.
  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma and NAFA certification and/or 5 of years of combined equivalent work experience and education.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
