Overall Responsibility:
The Advanced Process Technician operates and monitors automated manufacturing equipment to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in steel blanking processes. This role is responsible for troubleshooting equipment, making improvements to the manufacturing processes, and assuming supervisory duties in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
Accountabilities:
- Operate and tend to automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and fixed automation systems.
- Complete daily process audits (e.g., equipment readiness, first-off checks, etc.).
- Document production data accurately in compliance with ISO 14001/TS16949 standards (e.g., parts per hour, scrap rates, downtime, traceability).
- Interpret machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate material variance and quality thresholds.
- Ensure product quality exceeds customer expectations and apply corrective methods to meet defect reduction goals.
- Assist with machine changeovers, including overhead crane operation and automation setup.
- Conduct routine maintenance and enforce safety protocols (e.g., housekeeping, lock-out/tag-out procedures).
- Support implementation of process changes and new production projects.
- Minimize equipment downtime and collaborate with Maintenance to report and document issues.
- Apply knowledge of tools, equipment, and production methods to meet daily production requirements.
- Promote team effectiveness through communication, feedback, and involvement.
- Lead daily production meetings to communicate goals, quality metrics, and safety updates.
- Provide fair and consistent feedback to production staff.
- Champion World Class Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce inefficiencies and identify cost savings.
- Track and report employee attendance.
- Ensure safety and well-being of all personnel on shift, adhering to Health & Safety regulations.
- Fulfill Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities per HSE Management Standards, ISO 14001 & 45001.
- Ensure Quality Management System compliance with IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
- Adhere to policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary technical education preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or steel blanking
- Experience with ISO 14001, TS16949, and IATF 16949 standards
- Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot automated equipment and robotics
- Forklift and overhead crane certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures
