As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles. APD (Advanced Program & Delivery) is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific Subsystem (Electrical, Powertrain, Suspension, Exterior, Interior, Vehicle Engineering).
- Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labour requirements.
- Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations.
- Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
- Lead manufacturing assembly builds (DCV, TT, PP, MP1 and MP2) in Canada, Mexico & US assembly plants
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering feasibility issues.
- Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
- Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs at the vendor facilities.
- Drive Engineering Change implementation throughout the key program milestones
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
- Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
- Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
- Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch
- Collaborate with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or a related field of study
- 3+ years of 3D CAD review experience (Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, CATIA, or equivalent).
- 2+ years demonstrated understanding of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and failure mode avoidance principles.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience working effectively as part of a cross functional team.
- Able to travel within North American countries (including USA and Mexico) as required, which may include supporting launch programs.
Preferred Requirements
- 3+ years experience with automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities.
- 3+ years experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line.
- Expertise in understanding of bill of materials, change control, process allocation and issue management systems.
- Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
- Proven Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with computer skills (Excel, Power Point, MS Project etc.)
Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
