Mechanic/Apprentice

Garage R. Ethier & Fils is looking for an experienced automotive mechanic to join our young and dynamic team!

Our company is a third-generation family-owned shop currently expanding, and we’re looking for a skilled individual ready to take on new challenges with us.

We specialize mainly in the repair of commercial vehicles, particularly North American models (gas, diesel, electric).

Tasks and Responsibilities:
    • Accurately diagnose issues and determine the necessary components for repair;
    • Perform maintenance and repairs on gas, hybrid/electric, and diesel engine vehicles (cars, vans, and medium-duty trucks);
    • Work confidently on various vehicle systems, regardless of manufacturer (fuel injection, electrical systems, air conditioning, etc.);
    • Diagnose and repair internal engine/differential/transmission components;
    • Inform the service advisor if additional work is needed, if the described work is unnecessary, or if certain repairs cannot be completed;
    • Demonstrate a willingness to improve and stay up to date with industry changes;
    • Be meticulous, precise, and organized;
    • Be versatile, resourceful, and autonomous;
    • Keep your work area clean and organized;
    • Be honest, reliable, and punctual.

Working Conditions:
    • Full-time permanent position (40 hrs/week, with the possibility of overtime if needed);
    • Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.;
    • Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.;
    • Summer schedule: Fridays off!

Requirements:
    • Must have your own toolbox;
    • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
    • Must have a diploma (DEP) in automotive or heavy vehicle mechanics;
    • Must hold a CPA journeyman card;
    • Relevant work experience required;
    • Halocarbon certificate is an asset;
    • Experience with trucks/diesel is an asset;
    • Must be able to use diagnostic tools independently to complete repairs.
