Job description
Maternity leave replacement.
(1 year WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION)
Nature and characteristics of the function:
The employee performs work involving the mechanical verification, repair, adjustment and maintenance of motorized equipment. In the course of his/her work, the employee must be able to diagnose the causes and carry out the mechanical work involved in repairing and bringing the equipment into good working order.
Salary: $41.31 per hour.
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (37.5 hours per week).
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Ascertain the nature of defects, determine their causes and judge whether the affected parts need to be replaced, repaired or reconditioned;
- Check, remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble and re-install engines, carburetors, transmissions, steering, brakes, tires, differentials, clutches, springs, pivots, hydraulic and hydrostatic systems;
- Carry out maintenance and repair work on contacts, exhaust pipes, cooling systems, headlights and lights;
- Perform mechanical work required for the maintenance and repair of various light and heavy equipment;
- Adjust and install electronic components on engines (fuel injection), transmissions (electronic brains), ABS brakes, etc;
- Carry out test drives to diagnose problems or verify repairs;
- Carry out occasional simple body repairs, paint touch-ups and application of anti-corrosion products;
- Keep parts, equipment, tools and work areas clean;
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and safe work environment.
Job requirements:
- A few years' experience as a quality Mechanic;
- Hold a valid class 3 driver's licence with F endorsement.
Knowledge:
- Spoken and written French;
- Techniques, practices and tools used in the trade;
- Construction and operation of motorized equipment;
- Operation of on-board instruments and various accessory mechanisms.
Skills:
- Diagnose causes of malfunctions;
- Use tools required for the job;
- Interpret diagrams;
- Consult parts catalogs, understand maintenance manuals and write material requisitions, as required;
- Demonstrate tact and courtesy.

Training
- High School Diploma (DES);
- Training in heavy vehicle or construction equipment mechanics;
- Preventive maintenance program training (an asset).
