The Opportunity: A Motive Power professor to provide instruction to all levels of Heavy Duty Equipment apprenticeship and post-secondary programs. In addition to classroom instruction (both theoretical and practical), the incumbent will be responsible for curriculum development and the provision of academic leadership.
What you need to be successful:
- Diploma or Certificate in Heavy Equipment and/or Truck Coach Technician or equivalent from a post-secondary school
- Valid HED
- Certificate of Apprenticeship in Heavy Equipment and/or Truck Coach Techinician
- Certificate of Qualification in the Heavy Equipment Technician Trade (421A) Red Seal
- additional Certificate of Qualification in the Truck Coach Technician Trade (310T) or Automotive Service Technician Trade (310S) is considered an asset
- five years of current work experience as a journeyperson in the Heavy Equipment Technician Trade
- experience mentoring or training apprentices in the workplace, curriculum design/development is considered an asset
- working knowledge of a variety of software and multi-media packages
- excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite and preferably Dynamics 365
- excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills (demonstrated through a classroom simulation during interview process)
- strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- must possess ability to, and genuine interest in, meeting the educational needs of students, and sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural/ethnic backgrounds of the students
Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is a full-time academic bargaining unit position. Salary range is $73,079 to $126,689 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
