The Job

Reporting to the Operations Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the finance team providing exceptional accounting, tax and financial reporting support. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for helping to make business critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking and correcting the company's finances. In addition, you will be responsible for reconciling accounts, ensuring accurate financial records, ensuring tax compliance, assisting with financial audits and streamlining processes. You excel at maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, thrive under tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities 
 

  • Maintain the general ledger and other financial records
  • Review and post journal entries
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and variance analyses
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Reconcile and file indirect tax returns
  • Assist in interim and annual audit requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting operations
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and management reporting
  • Support and mentor junior staff members, review and provide feedback on their work
  • Liaise with other internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Assist with ad hoc issues or any new projects as they arise

  • Proficient with MS Office suite of products
  • Advanced Excell skills
  • Sage Intacct experience an asset


Education 
 

  • CPA designated preferred or enrolled in CPA program
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance


Experience 
 

  • 4+ years in an accounting/finance environment
  • Prior experience in auditing or public accounting would be beneficial
  • Canadian tax experience
  • Financial reporting and month-end close process
  • Process improvement skills
  • Reconciliation skills
  • Leadership skills

  • Hybrid work model, with 3 days a week required in-office. 
  • The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - 90,000.
