Lead Process Coach-Incoming Quality

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Supervise and Manage a Team of Quality Systems Technicians (QS):
    • Lead and direct a high functioning QS Team, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and address issues.
    • Support site wide process alignment.
  • Incoming Inspection and testing:
    • Oversee the periodic inspection and testing of materials from problematic suppliers to ensure that meet specifications.
  • Non-conformance Management of Incoming Supplier Components:
    • Manage the investigation, identification, and removal of non-conforming in-coming supplier materials, ensuring proper disposition within rejected material guidelines.
    • Manage the issuance and tracking of Concern Reports (CR's) and Quality Rejects (QR's) for supplied components.
    • Oversee and validate all QR's for proper process including 8'D and Chargebacks where required, through closure.
    • Support all inventory control meetings to ensure proper adherence.
  • Supplier Disputes:
    • Manage weekly dispute meetings with QS Technicians and Supplier Technical Assistance (STA)
    • Facilitate all Stage 1 Dispute Resolution with suppliers.
    • Work with STA for all Stage 2 dispute resolutions.
  • Data Analysis & Improvement:
    • Analyze internal & external quality data to identify areas of improvement and implement process changes.
    • Work with STA to identify & track Top 5 problematic suppliers.
    • Lead improvement strategies with Top 5 problematic suppliers.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Communicate quality issues and findings to relevant stakeholders, including suppliers, internal teams, STA and Product Development (PD) as required.
    • Work with departments to ensure proper follow-up on supplier responsible concerns. i.e. work orders and chargebacks.
    • Lead Daily Quality PIC meeting.
    • Support / Lead sub-team report-outs.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Oversee and maintain accurate records of inspection, tests, and non-conformances and prepare reports for management.
    • Maintain Daily Quality PIC meeting documentation.
    • Ensuring all documentation from departments supporting supplier related QR's & chargebacks are accurate.
    • Manage the supplier PPAP process through MTC procedures.
  • Training & Development / Process Improvements:
    • Provide training and development opportunities for the QS Team to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Support the Quality Systems testing process.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the incoming inspection process and work to implement changes.
    • Identify areas of skills / knowledge gaps and address (versatility matrix)
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and quality management systems (i.e., ISO9001)


Qualifications

Basic Requirements
 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality) or related technical field. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
  • 5+ years Engineering or Manufacturing operations experience.
  • Previous automotive and/or Quality and Safety analysis experience.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal), able to explain concepts clearly.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven problem-solving management skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Willingness to work all shifts/alternative work schedule as required.


Preferred Requirements
 

  • Proven incoming Quality experience
  • Experience supervising teams of Quality Technicians in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Prior experience using Kaizen mythologies.
  • Proficiency in the use of problem solving tools (Six Sigma, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc).
  • Self-starter, with the ability to be self-directed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
