Job summary:
Under the Body Shop Manager's supervision, the Automotive Painter works on surface preparation, paint mixing and application, and finishing to achieve impeccable results. Attention to detail is essential to guarantee quality work. A thorough knowledge of automotive painting materials and techniques is required, as well as the ability to follow precise instructions and comply with safety standards.
Job description:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by removing old paint, filling imperfections and sanding surfaces to ensure optimum adhesion;
- Mix paints according to manufacturer's specifications to obtain the appropriate shade and consistency;
- Apply paint evenly and precisely using spray guns, taking care to avoid drips and imperfections. There should be no “orange peel” effect;
- Touch up and correct as necessary to ensure a perfect finish;
- Apply protective top coats, such as varnishes or sealers, to protect the paint and improve its durability. The application technique must allow for “blending” with the rest of the vehicle;
- Clean and maintain painting equipment regularly to ensure it is in good working order;
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient coordination of work and meet deadlines;
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment;
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Training and experience:
- DVS in bodywork;
- Over 5 years of experience in automotive painting;
- Experience in dent removal (an asset).
Special skills:
- Good understanding and communication in French with customers and in writing;
- Demonstrated experience as an automotive painter;
- Mastery of paint mixing and selection techniques;
- Thorough knowledge of blending and application methods to ensure a uniform appearance of local paints;
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure accurate, high-quality work;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
