Job description

The Supervisor is also accountable for managing in-house mechanical rebuilding process and maintaining the boneyard area in a clean, organized, and hazard-free condition. While not involved in inventory or production activities, this role is vital in supporting site operations by ensuring that tools and equipment are reliable, available, and compliant.

This position plays a key role in reinforcing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles and driving process improvement initiatives that enhance operational reliability and safety.

Mobile Equipment & Mechanical Support Oversight

 

  • Oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of all mobile equipment across the main facility and warehouse sites.
  • Lead TPM implementation for mobile equipment, with a focus on proactive maintenance, inspection routines, and operator care.
  • Manage and coordinate the maintenance and safe operation of mechanical systems such as overhead doors, dock levelers, dock locks and chocks.
  • Respond promptly to equipment issues, coordinating repairs and minimizing downtime.
  • Support reliability goals through root cause analysis and collaboration with the maintenance and engineering teams.


Boneyard & Rebuild Area Management

 

  • Supervise trades personnel in performing in-house mechanical rebuilds, ensuring safety, quality, and timely execution.
  • Maintain the boneyard area in a clean, organized, and secure condition, preventing clutter and safety risks.
  • Ensure safe handling and staging of scrap materials and provide guidance on disposal practices.


Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

 

  • Ensure all mobile equipment operations and mechanical maintenance tasks comply with applicable safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work areas and equipment to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety teams to support training, documentation, and incident response as needed.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through feedback, audits, and team engagement.


Team Leadership & Support

 

  • Provide clear directions and daily supervision to tradespeople and Mill support staff under your scope.
  • Participate in team development through coaching, safety meetings, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a proactive, reliable, and safety-first mindset within the team.


Qualifications

 

  • Trade certification in Automotive Service Technician (310S), Truck and Coach Technician (310T), or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician (421A) is preferred, particularly for candidates with hands-on experience maintaining forklifts or similar mobile equipment.
  • Competent individuals with equivalent practical experience in maintenance, millwrighting, or equipment operations will also be considered, especially those with a strong supervisory background.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or mobile equipment environment.
  • Proven understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), process improvement, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and teams.
  • Experience using CMMS systems or digital maintenance tracking tools is considered an asset.
  • Must be competent in evaluating contractor performance, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring all equipment is maintained in line with regulatory and safety standards.
