Heavy Equipment Technician / Mechanic 

LOCATION:London, ON

WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-Shop Opportunity

WHAT TO EXPECT:
 

  • Signing bonus $2,500 for fully licensed 310T or 421A
  • Stable scheduling: Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm (40 hours/week)
  • Quarterly bonus opportunities - up to $1,500/quarter
  • Steady maintenance, repairs and CVIP inspections
  • Variable equipment including street sweepers, vac trucks and refuse trucks
  • 2 weeks vacation and 3 paid personal days
  • Group benefit coverage - 100% paid for by the Company


WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:
 

  • Licensed mechanic - 310T or 421A
  • Open to level 4 apprentices
  • Strong work ethic
  • Mechanically inclined; hydraulic, pneumatic, diagnostics, inspections and electrical
  • Ability to adapt based on the work in the shop
  • Willing to mentor and assist with apprenticeship learning


POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/ Certification:
 

  • Licensed Journeyperson Certification
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract - CDL License an asset


Experience:
 

  • 3+ years' experience as a working on various types of heavy equipment
  • Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
  • Experience setting up and operating complex machinery
  • Experience using MS Office Suite


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Perform mechanical repairs on a variety of heavy equipment represented by JJE
  • Perform hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
  • Conduct repairs in a timely and effective manner, communicating effectively with the Service Writer and Parts team to ensure optimal efficiency
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and job status changes
  • Maintain organized and safe work area, shop tools and service vans


SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees must:
 

  • Work in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation/regulations/safety policies
  • Report any known workplace hazard or safety violations
  • Cooperate with their workplace's Safety Committee or health and safety representative
  • Use any safety equipment, protective devices or clothing required
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.


Work Environment:
 

  • Shop, Warehouse, Yard environment
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust and dirt


Physical Demand:
 

  • Frequently required to lift and move moderately heavy objects (up to 50lbs)
  • Frequently standing and walking
