Job Summary

As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you'll oversee the management of our fleet of 55 primary and secondary equipment within your assigned area. Your primary focus will be on achieving market base profitability while maintaining high standards of safety, employee development, and operational efficiency. You'll lead a team of technicians and specialists, ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained, safe, and available to meet operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Profitability Focus: Continuously strive to achieve market base profitability through effective supervision of fleet and maintenance activities, including cost control and adherence to corporate objectives.

Safety and Reliability: Ensure the availability of safe and reliable vehicles to meet operational requirements, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance with regulations.

Asset Utilization: Supervise the effective utilization of vehicle assets, optimizing fleet performance and efficiency.

Maintenance Standards: Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met, and oversee the staffing and training of maintenance shop personnel.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations, promoting safe and efficient operations.

Financial Management: Meet all financial review dates and corporate-directed programs in a timely manner, contributing to overall financial success.

Personnel Management: Administer personnel needs of the department, including employee selection, coaching, training, and performance evaluation.

Team Collaboration: Foster positive working relationships among all employees through regular meetings and communication, promoting morale, productivity, and efficiency.

Training and Development: Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner, contributing to employee growth and development.

Reporting: Update and submit required reports in a timely manner, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities 
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes: 

Direct supervision of 6 full-time employees including 310T Techs and specialists.

Qualifications 
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. 

A. Education and Experience 

Education: Two (2) or three (3) year College Diploma in a related field of study, or in lieu of diploma, High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalency and two (2) years of work experience. 

Experience: Two (2) years of previous work experience in a leadership role (in addition to education requirement). 

Applicable experience may be substituted for education requirements. 

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements 

Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record.

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) most of the work day; 

Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely; 

Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc) rarely; 

Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements occasionally; 

Normal setting for this job is: on-site setting.
