The Opportunity

We are looking for experienced Instrumentation and Control Technician - Powerhouse to join our GM Oshawa Facility.

Key Responsibilities

The position requires experience in PLC, and DCS control systems, along with experience with both pneumatic and electronic controls.

The candidate will need knowledge in technical configuration, calibration, maintenance, assembly and wiring of Industrial Control Panels, and installation and field wiring of Control Systems

Position Requires:
 

  • 3-year Industrial Instrumentation Technologist diploma (preferred)
  • Will consider 2 Year Industrial Instrumentation Technician diploma + related work experience.
  • 5 years instrumentation and controls experience
  • Excellent Troubleshooting skills
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good self-management and the ability to work well within a small team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical and PID drawings.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office
  • Electrical experience is preferred, although not required.
  • Experience in a Boiler and Air Compressor plant setting preferred, although not required.


Additional Job Description
 

  • High School Diploma with Instrumentation and Control Technician 447A
  • Apprenticeship or 5+ years practical experience
  • Required to safely and efficiently , maintain and repair Control Systems for high pressure steam gas fired boilers, air compressors, and all auxiliary equipment in a first class power plant
  • Able to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance and calibrate devices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient Computer Skill
  • Working knowledge of Delta V Controls
  • Energetic and Self-Motivated
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision and work independently and as part of a team

  • Compensation: Starting at a full rate of $52.69 
  • Plus you will earn an afternoon shift premium of 5%, a night shift premium of 10%, paid overtime (x1.5 and x2.0) in accordance with the collective agreement (Position will primarily be day shift will possibilities of occasional night or weekend call ins)
  • COLA Adjustments on a quarterly basis
  • DC Pension Program with Employer Match up to 2080 hours
  • Annual General Wage increases scheduled in 2024 and 2025
