Job description

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Fleet Services

*Non-bargaining

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Strategically manage department in compliance with Canadian North's policies & vision;
  • Develop, implement, lead & maintain continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Identify opportunities to generate increased productivity & reduce waste/redundancies;
  • Provide leadership for Fleet management department;
  • Provide Technical point of contact for all aircraft and component manufacturers;
  • Lead continuous improvement of aircraft reliability;
  • Provide Troubleshooting work-scopes for chronic aircraft defects;
  • Assess all aircraft manufacturers Service bulletins and provide recommendations and business cases to implement;
  • Monitor and implement airworthiness directives for aircraft fleet;
  • Maintaining effective control of the fleet aircraft configuration changes and modification status and ensuring that the technical impacts of configuration changes are implemented in a timely and safe manner;
  • Providing a source of technical competence regarding Fleet aircraft systems and procedures;
  • Maintain control of all aircraft loadable software;
  • Maintain Aircraft Repairs and existing damage;
  • Maintain aircraft Weight and balance;
  • Monitor AQD actions assigned;
  • Lead implementation of new aircraft in to service;
  • Maintain overall fleet status report and provide recommendations for upcoming maintenance events and aircraft retirement
  • Keeping abreast of the latest technological advances and making timely decisions and giving necessary support to the implementation of trials, tests and installations of new technology, where this will bring economic or operational benefit;
  • Provides leadership and oversight to direct & indirect reports including scheduling, staffing, performance management, labour relations, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of departmental operating, capital and manpower budgets and responsible to manage expenditures in a cost effective manner
  • Report non-conformities to senior management team
  • Report positive milestones to senior management team
  • Conducts periodic audit and reviews to ensure ongoing quality and compliance
  • Ensures a priority focus on safety and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

 

  • Two (2) years of post secondary education;
  • Five (5) years of previous relevant experience;
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
  • Proven Knowledge in Maintenance Air operator regulations and process;
  • Demonstrates customer service and promotes teamwork;
  • Previous Experience managing the technical aspects of an aircraft fleet;
  • Ability to create business cases for product improvement;
  • Proven ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to perform presentations to senior management;
  • Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Possesses a solid understanding of the business and customer environment;
  • MS Office computer proficiency, preferably with experience using TRAX;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
