Mechanic/Apprentice

Company and Job description:

Johns Auto Supply is a family-owned business since 1963. Our shop in Smithville provides both auto parts and auto service as required. Well-equipped with four bays, John’s Auto Supply Ltd. works on all vehicles, including agricultural, light duty commercial and automotive. We are in search of a new member of our team, responsible for a wide range of mechanical service, inspection and repair to automotive, commercial, agricultural and equipment to a level of competency expected of a Motor Vehicle Technician holding a 310T and/or 310S Technician License and Certificate of Qualification or 3-4 year apprentice. Full time hours required with occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities:

- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Conduct inspections and perform preventative maintenance tasks
- Repair or replace faulty components, parts, or systems
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and mechanics
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues
- Experience with using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Qualifications:

- Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario or equivalent, plus;
- Successful completion of both 310T (Truck and Coach) and 310S (Automotive) Technician Apprenticeship Programs at a certified community college or trade school. OR enrollment in 3-4 year apprenticeship. Valid - G level Ontario Drivers Licence.
- Automotive service experience is an asset.
