Shift Work Required: YesDuties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager- Fleet, this position will be responsible for :
 

  • Developing, implementing and performing preventative maintenance program for ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) and Farebox equipment.
  • Providing technical support, including problem identification, investigation and resolution.
  • Providing troubleshooting analysis and resolution for standard and complex issues.
  • Working to meet inflexible deadlines for implementing new systems or enhancing existing systems with urgent response times.
  • Participating in the upgrade, integration, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance and support of transit systems.
  • Receiving and responding to service requests, discussions and resolve issues and/or provide operational information.
  • Working with ITS Coordinator to receive training, develop, training materials and strategies, receive current issues, work assignments and priorities.
  • Assisting ITS Coordinator with all ITS and Farebox related duties.
  • Developing and maintain an inventory of replacement parts for ITS and Farebox equipment, including research and recommendation for components.
  • Maintaining a log for equipment repairs.
  • Monitoring hardware components and coordinate the replacement of malfunctioning equipment or parts with contractors as required.
  • Set up, update and support hardware and firmware on in-vehicle systems designated for use within the Transit fleet.
  • Conducting CAD/AVL commissioning on new vehicles upon delivery.
  • Coordinating with Transit staff providing in-vehicle system expertise and support; in-vehicle system vendors on trouble shooting, support, replacements and updates; Information Technology department for network, security, software and related hardware.
  • Lifting, carrying and installing ITS and Farebox related equipment.
  • performing Corporate Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Canada Labour Code Part II.
  • Will perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a post-secondary school community College diploma in Information Technology or Engineering or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of three years' experience in an Information Technology position supporting hardware, peripherals, applications, telecommunications and networking in a business environment.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G driver's licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a Transit Windsor vehicle and provide authorization to obtain a driver's abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must have strong problem solving.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize competing and changing issues in a transit environment.
  • Must have computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and resolve technical problems.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple technical initiatives independently, and as part of a team.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Previous experience in a helpdesk or customer service environment, dealing with end users, and developing and conducting computer training courses will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, accountability, flexibility and adaptability will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in telecommunications and networking for vehicle tracking applications, fare collection systems, transit traveller information systems, wireless technologies including WLAN/GPS/GSM/GPRS/HSPA/LTE, and information systems and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems considered an asset.
