Brief job description:
The Accounting Clerk at a car dealership is responsible for managing daily financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records. In collaboration with the administrative and financial team, he/she monitors accounts receivable and payable, and keeps accounting records up to date.
Accounts payable and receivable:
- Verify all receipts and obtain appropriate authorization before making payments;
- Prepare cheques for accounts payable;
- Issue receipts for all cash received from vehicle sales, and check for outstanding amounts;
- Post finalized cash receipts and update accounts receivable ledger.
Accounting sales:
- Account for new and pre-owned vehicle department sales records;
- Ensure that all relevant documents are in order and on file;
- Authorize commission payments based on final documentation;
- Keep abreast of manufacturers' sales programs and ensure that relevant accounts are credited;
- Post builder invoices to computer system and make adjustments to balance accounts;
- Ensure the accuracy of inventories: new and pre-owned vehicles;
- Account for receivables, financing, manufacturer and customer registers until payment in full;
- Compile reports as requested;
- Ensure effective communications, harmony and team spirit within the organization;
- Ensure compliance with Quebec occupational health and safety laws to maintain a safe environment;
- Perform all other related duties.

Training
Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in accounting and/or 2 years of experience in a similar position in the automotive industry.
